Snap cubes and base ten manipulatives will allow number building and number understanding to occur on a daily basis for my students. Building numbers is a concept that students love to explore. By not just relying on paper and pencil, students will be able to actually understand what the problems suggest. Making models and manipulating the models with snap linking cubes and base ten models students can explore a real-word activity that will allow them to understand two major concepts in math this year-multiplication and division. The use of the magnetic manipulatives will serve as a guide for those students who might need extra help as they begin to build their numbers. Seeing the use of the manipulatives on the board will make their discovery of numbers much more relevant.
