On the very first day of art class this year my students asked me, "when do we get to use clay?" Clay is a wonderful art making material that really allows students to work with their hands and mold and shape amazing things. They are fascinated by the firing process and the way the material transforms from something like mud that is delightfully messy to something solid, hard and shiny that they can be proud of. Unfortunately, due to a problem with the kiln that damaged some of the necessary parts used in the firing process, the ability to run a clay unit is in danger. Help me give students the gift of working with clay and creating works of art that will last forever.
