I chose these books specifically because some of them are classics remade into graphic novels that my students love. They also love extreme weather and mysteries as well as silly stories. In the beginning of the school year you get to know what type of books your kids are interested in. The books I chose will excite my students, and I know they will enjoy them enough to want to discuss them with their peers. They will be wonderful to use in small guided reading groups to help gain fluency and decoding skills. Working with special needs students can be very challenging, especially boys. They enjoy books that are scary, gross, and exciting. For them to be able to read this material independently will gladden my heart. I know they will smile when I show them their new books!
