Play is the brain's favorite form of learning. When students struggle in school socially, emotionally and behaviorally, the best thing that we as educators can do is give them an opportunity to freely and safely express themselves and share their experiences. By playing out their experience of life at home through the use of figurines and a dollhouse or through building self-esteem and expanding possibilities through role-playing with a dress-up corner, your donation will help give students the tools they need to bravely step forward and enter a world their own. Not all students have the words to share what they are going through, but every child knows how to play. Through creative and dramatic play using doll figurines and dollhouse furniture, career hats, doctor kit and other toy materials, students can play out their narrative experiences, show me their world as they experience it and work through difficult trauma histories in order to begin to work towards healing and change.
