Many of my Kindergarten students have impoverished home lives. Every one of my students qualifies for free school lunch. Most start the school year not knowing the letters of the alphabet and how to spell or even write their names. Most of my students do not receive parental support at home in order to reinforce the objectives covered during the school day, or to assist with completing their home learning assignments. Despite their numerous deficiencies, they are rays of sunshine that always find a way to make me smile. I am so proud at the end of each school year to see how much each student has progressed from where they started.
