What more do 21st century children love than hand-held technology?! Don't worry, I'll wait for your answer... In the meantime, I am working to allow ALL of my students to have access to some kind of technology on a BYOD (bring your own device) campus. I have students who may not be able to afford their own devices or their parents prefer that they don't bring them to school. My students could benefit from an additional tool in my classroom to facilitate small-group learning. After all, I am guiding and molding our future nurses, doctors, firefighters, pro-athletes, and engineers to comprehend number-crunching skills that the average adult must know. Therefore, I am requesting that your donations go toward an iPad for my classroom. I have worked with students in other districts that have provided iPads to each student and I have seen the comfort that it brings to children who struggle with mathematical concepts. No, they didn't get to take it home to keep, but it made for simpler, more convenient, and more fun learning in my middle school math classes. Having at least one classroom iPad will give me an opportunity to teach interactive lessons and reteach fundamentals, such as computing with fractions & decimals, to students in small groups Once I can overcome those minor challenges, I can then move on to show my students how to think mathematically and introduce skills balancing their checking accounts, avoiding debt, calculating savings, and/or filing their own taxes! My goal is to foster young minds to become mature and financially aware adults. Any donation will help.
