Students struggle with understanding DNA sequencing and how it affects genetic outcomes. My biology department and I have created a series of DNA coding lessons that use actual coding to help students experience how to sequence genes and what the effects of the code sequences mean. All that is missing is a way to see the codes they create in action. Having multiple robots will allow us to pair students and give more individualized instruction and experience. Our goal is to eventually have enough robots for each student, but pairs are a great start! Hands on learning makes a huge difference!
