Makey-Makey kits take every day objects and combine them with electronics to make virtually anything a touchpad. By using these kits, students can make their creations come to life while also developing an understanding of circuitry, electronics, game design and coding. As a teacher, my goal is to share as many different technologies with students as I can to help them find what they are passionate about. Many of my students are from low-income families and for many of them, my class may be the only time they are exposed to STEAM related experiences. With these kits, I will be able to break down barriers related to STEAM and show my students that anyone can be an inventor. I want my students to see themselves as makers and creators, not just as consumers. Makey-Makey kits will help my students develop creative confidence and a sense of curiosity that will help them see that they have the ability to make a big difference in the world.
