For my students, and especially those with special needs, these forms of art media will provide them with an easier and faster way of creating their art. I have used both Crayola Color Sticks and Kwik Stix Tempera Paints with my students in the past and have found them to excite and energize my students. The paints do not require water and the Color Sticks (pencils) do not require sharpening. This allows students to immediately begin work and cover large areas easily. This eliminates frustration and students can freely create and explore using different techniques. These types of media I have requested are versatile and come in very vibrant colors. Using them, students will learn about the process of art which includes texturing, blending, composing and using space, etc. Afterwards, they are able to use their newly acquired skills to create work of a specific nature. The beauty of using this type of media is that students truly enjoy and look forward to using them. After using these materials, completed works will be displayed around the school and possibly other venues. They certainly will add color and pizazz to the environment.
