Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make good choices. Students who have the need to move and fidget in order to get their mind working will benefit from being able to push, bounce and stretch the elastic bands on their seats while they are working. Currently, my students who have these needs do not have any resources they can use in the classroom. They end up fidgeting with classroom items on their tables that create a great deal of noise that distracts their classmates. The elastic bands will allow them to release their fidget energy without creating a distraction to others. Additionally, the partition boards will provide a quiet and private space for students to be able to work at while seated. The table top easel will allow me to work with small groups of students, addressing their needs in a small group setting. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive to their peers when they are able to move and fidget with something quiet as they work. The products I have selected will help my students by giving them flexible seating options to address their fidget and privacy needs. The elastic bands will allow students to get their movement/wiggles out while they are hard at work. The privacy partitions will also support our flexible seating options. Students sit six to a table and privacy is hard to come by. The privacy partitions will allow students to create a quiet work space in the class. Finally, the table top easel is easy to move from table to table and will help me address the many learning needs of my students. I will be able to travel from table to table to teach a small group to minimize disruptions.
