I have seen my students thrive in a world of color and creative expression! Their engagement increases tenfold when participating in lessons full of color, opportunities to move about the classroom, and express their learning in creative means. The supplies requested in this project will allow me to create these types of engaging and expressive lessons time and time again, without having to worry about having the supplies needed to back them. Colored pens and highlighters help students to identify and understand different elements of writing both in mentor texts and their own works. Seeing the difference in colors provides them with quick, tangible evidence of the elements they are able to include in their writing. Poster paper and sticky notes allow students to engage in their favorite form of discourse and collaboration: gallery walks. Clipboards and laminators greatly assist in the ability to continue an engaging centers framework that incorporates varied seating and manipulatives, such as task cards. Headphones provide students with auditory access to information and practice processing through listening. Art supplies such as markers, construction papers, scissors, allow students to unleash their inner artists and gives them the ability to depict their stories through visual means.
