When you picture an elementary classroom, it's easy to picture tables or groups of desks and chairs, an abundance of artwork and crafts, and of course, a lot of busy children. Those busy children all have brains that learn in very different ways. In my classroom, all of my children learn in a variety of ways, but they all share a few things in common- one of them being that they love to wiggle! In Kindergarten, we work very hard, and in turn we have to find some outlets to keep our brains fresh and focused. Sitting in ordinary chairs all day long makes children grow restless, bored, and more likely to lose focus on their task at hand. With the help of wobble stools, sitting at a desk becomes an active part of a child's learning environment. It gives them an opportunity to wiggle while they work! Wobble stools help satisfy a child's need to move. These chairs allow them to safely wobble, rock and lean, all while promoting oxygen flow to the brain and helping to increase core strength. All of these pieces fit together to help keep them focused on their tasks at school. My students love to dance, play and move around while they are learning. I would love to give them the opportunity to have this active learning environment even while working at their desks, or in places like guided reading groups and writing stations. By donating to our classroom project, you will not just be helping my kindergarteners wiggle. You will be giving them the opportunity to maintain focus throughout the school day and ultimately help improve their academic achievements.
