My seventh grade students come from an impoverished, low socioeconomic status community where gangs, drugs, and violence are part of their every day lives. They even face challenges and obstacles from attending school, where most of them feel safest. The school is comprised of 86% Hispanic and 14% African American, all who receive free lunches based on their low income families. Once inside of the campus walls, they all bring their own unique personality to their classroom. My students are very interactive and open to learning new things that can apply to their every day life and bring a lot of enthusiasm and talents into the classroom that motivates and is gratifying to every teacher and administrator on campus.
