Hello! I am Rachael Mitchell and I teach at the most unique school in Indianapolis...Newcomer. The school consists of migrant and refugee students from around the world. In particular, my classroom is made up of 29 incredible students. They are amazingly talented, hilarious, courageous, brilliant scholars. They represent 11 countries and speak 5 different languages. All of my little learners are ESL students and have migrated to the United States within the past year. They are all learning English and all about what life is like in America. In our classroom community, we value our cultural differences and aspire to be our best selves. We value what it means to be respectful and responsible self-advocates and how embodying these attributes can impact our lives forever. I believe in the transforming power of education. I work tirelessly each day to ensure that my students are prepared for all that is to come!
