Picture this: A group of students struggling to control their behaviors, productively taking care of a small outdoor garden, and feeling pride and joy in what they have done! Picture this: Twenty 2nd graders reading with their book buddies outside in our school courtyard, in a place they enjoy visiting with their peers! Having an outdoor reading space would be incredible for our students! Creating an outdoor classroom area that is available to and maintained by all of our students will teach them to take ownership of their hard work, to be responsible, and to enjoy the fruits of their labor, within a unique learning space. We would love to have an outdoor classroom and small garden center at our school to help students learn in a different type of way. With your help, this could all be possible for our students at SRS! All students, grades K-5th, will utilize and take care of this outdoor classroom area. Our requested materials are some of the last items needed to make this mini dream come true! The gazebo will provide shade for those hot days, the chairs will be awesome for kids to spread out around the courtyard and find their perfect reading spot, and our storage container will be great for flexible seating pads and garden tools for our mini gardens.
