These materials will make a difference in my students learning because they will use hands on resources to practice counting money, making change, and keeping a budget. All of these skills are applicable to their real world which makes them engaging and relevant . So many people get out into the real world and get into a financial bind and have never learned how to handle money. Exposing them early is a good way to prepare them before they get to high school and apply for their first job and start earning money. Making them financially aware will create productive citizens that can also save for their future. My students will be keeping a budget and "pretending" to pay and make change with the paper bills and plastic coins from a grocery list. Students will learn how to keep a checkbook register of different things that are "purchased" during different times throughout the year.
