We are currently a learning family of 24 First graders and they have been with me for almost two years now. We learn everyday in a school that is surrounded by crime, poverty and lack of guidance. Yet, in my classroom my students come to school to learn. They know they will make it to college and they know that focusing and learning all they can at our school will get them there. I don't just teach my students academically, I teach them life skills as well. I believe that these books that I have requested will enable me to teach my students the life skills that they need while keeping them engaged through the adventures that these authors have written. Every Listening Center that I choose I choose because the author has a special way of reaching students so that they have a deeper understanding of characters, feelings and events in the stories.
