Instruments, of all kinds, are a wonderful means of communication. My classroom currently has non-pitched percussive instruments. Xylophones would be an excellent melodic addition to my classroom. Xylophones are an inclusive instrument that allow students of varying abilities to engage in music making. Musical Benefits: -Xylophones provide a visual representation of the major scale and basic physics of sound. -Xylophones help teach musical concepts such as: melody, harmony, form, rhythm, improvisation, composition and more. Everyday Life Benefits: -Xylophones promote self expression through melodic and rhythmic improvisation and composition. -While playing Xylophones, students experience the social interactions of playing in an ensemble. -Playing the Xylophone helps to improve motor skills.
