Laurie Halse Anderson has created a series of three historical fiction novels that allows students to immerse themselves in our nation's history. Her series is called The Seeds of America Trilogy: Chains, Forge, and Ashes. Our sixth grade social studies curriculum focuses on American history. These novels will give students the opportunity to connect literature with history. It also allows them to understand history through the eyes of a character that is close to their ages. These novels have won multiple awards, and I would like to use these novels in my classroom to support our ongoing Book Club groups.
