I have found that at-risk students are often not well traveled. When asked, "What is the farthest you have ever been from home?" I often hear answers such as, "Houston, TX" or "Lake Charles, LA," both of which are less than two hours from their homes. This lack of exposure to the world causes at-risk students to have little understanding of our world. I feel that these maps will provide an easily accessible resource for my students to use in class, so they can better understand the places they are learning about in history and improve their familiarity with our world.
