These toys will allow my students to have access to new and exciting experiences, interactions, and play schemes that they may not have at home. I would like to purchase a racetrack and cars, building tiles, a cash register, pretend food and dishes, and assorted books to encourage imaginative and cooperative play between students. Children today are conditioned to seek entertainment outside of themselves from technology sources. Children do not need the most high-tech battery powered toys in order to learn; in fact, studies have shown that these toys restrict the learning of little ones. For this reason, my focus is on teaching play with traditional toys in order to let their minds take the lead. My students will learn patience, creativity, turn-taking, flexibility, sequencing, and so much more.
