The environmental science classrooms will be Investgating the daily electrical usage of their every day appliances and mobile devices. The activity brings home the idea of where each individual can conserve energy, and leads into a unit on renewable energy sources. Quantifying a personal energy consumption and extrapolating out to family, community and global energy usage creates an informed citizenry. We need Kill A Watt meters to allow a demonstration to become a personal investigation into energy consumption. Using these meters in the classroom to gather information and use this information to change their world. Students often take their dependence on electricity for granted.
