It is my belief that gone are the days of students beginning their school day with silent seat work. Based on previous classes, choice time provides an opportunity to develop problem-solving​ skills, creativity, and increase rigor on a daily basis. It facilitates relationship development and builds teamwork with different peer groups while addressing various learning styles. When students arrive in the classroom they can choose to work with students already engaged in various activities. Children approach the day with excitement and the ability to have a say in choosing a task they enjoy. This choice empowers students to become communicators, creators, and leaders. It is a positive way to begin the day. I can not think of a better way to help prepare them for life long learning and career readiness!
