In my first year as a school counselor, I serve over 450 students in a low socioeconomic area. The majority of my students come from blended families, are homeless, or live in shelters with one parent and most are on free/reduced price lunch. Daily my students are dealing with feelings of abandonment, fear/anxiety, grief/ loss, and confusion. All they truly desire is to be loved and accepted and to belong to a family. At my school, we believe in the true potential of the human being and believe that our students will achieve great things despite their circumstances.

About my class
