Math takes a lot practice, and for middle school students they need various types of motivation. For students who have intrinsic motivation, practicing math skills isn't necessarily a challenging task; but for students who come to school without intrinsic motivation; as educators we understand that extrinsic motivators become the path way to intrinsic motivation. I started the year with a classroom that provided dry erases boards and expo makers for use whenever we engaged in math topics; unfortunately, we have run out of many supplies. The kids however still expect to grab a dry erase board and marker when math lessons begin. Thus, having expo markers and erasers motivates middle school students to participate in various math topics.

About my class
