Each set of Jenga has different colored blocks with corresponding colored laminated question cards. Students will roll the dice to determine which colored question they will solve. If they solve it correctly, they pull a Jenga piece of the same color and place it on the top of the stack. Students will continue to play until the tower of blocks topples. Then a new game begins. Students are motivated to practice math concepts in a more interactive way than using paper and pencil. This is a fun and exciting way to engage with the material learned in class and interact with mathematical content. Since students can play in teams or individually, community building and differentiation of instruction take place. Various learning styles and modalities are utilized, which increases student engagement in the learning process, reinforcing long term retention of mathematical computation and skills. It's a win win for all involved. Question cards can be edited and reused to reflect current content taught in class. Game content can also be scaffolded to accommodate students based on their readiness and proficiency level. This allows for equity in the classroom for all students, enabling them to experience success in mathematical computation skills. Each time students play, it's a whole new game and set of skills. By varying the content, students continue to be motivated to engage with mathematics.
