Through the use of picture books, the topics of acceptance, appreciation, uniqueness, love, compassion, empathy, justice, racism and equality will be read and explored with the youngest of learners- kindergarteners- as integrated into my SEL(social-emotional learning) curriculum to help validate, affirm, build and bridge with my students. These stories will undoubtedly grow our classroom community, spur questions and conversations and bring about positive change. Learning through picture books is a powerful way to gain knowledge, insight, wisdom, other perspectives and increased acceptance and understanding. I look forward to the time I can return to the classroom, and integrate these stories into our day.

About my class
