The materials in our project are wonderful supplies that will help my students develop their reading skills. Studies have shown the importance of reading in a child's life. Many of my students may not have access to these resources or abundance of books outside of the classroom, so I want to supply my students with the most resources and opportunities possible. In kindergarten, my students are learning to read, but soon, they will be reading to learn. I want to make sure they are ready! Books with a strong sight word base and reading phones are critical in developing fluency - reading smoothly. Students who have stronger fluency also have stronger comprehension skills- being able to remember what they read. Students will use the letter tiles and puzzles to build words and practice reading and writing those words. The picture books in our project will be used in shared reading, to model what good reading looks like and to develop a strong vocabulary base. I cannot wait to see my students work for their reading wings and take flight, soaring through reading to new heights!
