"The Lord of the Flies" novel is both high interest as well as classic literature. I teach mostly boys and this book will speak directly to their lives in middle school. I want to teach how literature crosses over into the entertainment industry and how it applies to our everyday life experiences. "The Lord of the Flies" is a great example of how literature infiltrates our pop culture. The Scholastic Math Magazines will provide my students with opportunities to read in math. It will show them how the material we are learning, transfers to their everyday lives. Both sets of reading materials can be used again and again for years to come.
