Understanding patterns help prepare children for learning complex number concepts and mathematical operations. Patterns allow us to see relationships and develop generalizations. By investing in these prerequisite skills by students will benefit immensely in the long run. Title One Pre-K programs set a strong foundation for a life time of learning for families that might not otherwise receive the opportunity to send their child to preschool. The books I choose are age appropriate and will function as language support in addition to teaching math skills. The building blocks will give a hands on opportunity to practice patterning on our light table.
