Students continue to struggle with their multiplication facts, which causes academic barriers in almost every area of advanced mathematics. Students who haven't mastered their facts will continue to struggle with division, fractions and algebraic expressions. They are often reluctant to participate in classroom discussions in fear of being ridiculed for lack of fact mastery; therefore, causing students to fall further behind. Providing alternative, yet fun and engaging, methods to multiplication practice will help improve multiplication mastery. Hot dots are perfect for individual instruction/practice and allow students to take ownership in their self-check and monitoring progress. Math fact mastery can only occur with repeated practice and Hot Dots provide an excellent method of keeping students engaged and making learning fun!
