Combined with an amazing fabrication software that I already have students will use the Silhouette Portrait 2 devices, Silhouette Portrait Cutting Mats, and Springhill Cardstock Paper for a myriad of projects. From creating 3-D models and simulation of real-world systems (i.e. erosion, phases of the moon, ecosystems), novel scene creations, and even creating toy inventions of their very own. The teaching applications of these tools are limitless. More importantly, it will help transform basic fact regurgitation into an unforgettable learning experience. This hands-on creative learning experience will help students develop resilience and GRIT as they work through problems and redesign their models. Ultimately supporting the students’ grasp of the content and their social-emotional learning as well.
