We are requesting new books that will inspire their love of reading and learning. My students are readers. It saddens me when I have to tell them that I don’t have the book they want to read or books they need to read for a specific class assignment. Many students have read a large majority of the books in the Media Center and are left wanting more. Some of the students don’t see themselves in the characters of the books because the collection isn’t diverse enough. I would love to be able to support their reading and provide books that they want to read and books that represent them as a person. We need diverse books as well as books that support the classroom curriculum that they would want to read.
