I services students with severe cognitive delays. My students range from 3rd grade to the 5th grade. Many of my students have fine motor and gross motor problems as well as physical issues. Most of the students are in need of individual attention and require assistance with most of their daily activities to be successful. My students are encouraged to complete as many tasks as possible on their own on a daily basis. Everything from personal needs in the area of restroom, washing hands to personally reminding them to complete simple task other student are able to complete on their own without reminding. This requires processing time in their minds as well as giving them the independence of completing the academic activity appropriately. Individual activities we work on in the classroom requires a great deal of structure and continued support to acquire the success they need to successful in everyday life and be safe.
