Students will be able to connect to their learning of San Diego and the history of upper California. They will get to learn about the changes to the area from the conquest, to exploration as well as the founding of the Missions. Students will learn about the significance of social justice by visiting Chicano Park and the socio-political climate that helped create this area as a people's park. They will also learn about the importance of how social change can happen even when the odds are stacked against them. I will be taking students to an area that most have never been.
