The children in my classroom come to our charter school from an array of neighborhoods across the city of Chicago because their families have the desire to send them to and through college, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Many bring with them limited literacy skills but shout out with excitement every time they find a letter, a sight word, or a punctuation mark they know in a book we are reading! In essence, they already love to read but need extra support catching up to grade level expectations.

About my class
