My students need to be engaged in every subject that is taught. One way to help keep students engaged is by offering flexible seating. Currently, students are able to work at two different sized tables to get them out of their desk area. Adding some cushions, wobble stools, and padded stools would definitely help my learners get more comfortable. This would really help my students by keeping them focused and engaged in lessons. It is important to create a positive learning environment by providing options to help students take ownership of where they do their best work. During my mini-lessons and read alouds, they come to sit on the carpet, but others would rather be in their chairs to avoid being on the floor. However, I really want to hold everyone's attention and would like them to sit closer without asking them to sit on the floor. By providing my class with multiple seating options, students will be able to remain more engaged, participate more in class discussions, and take ownership of their learning.
