Our school is in an urban neighborhood where few butterflies visit. If our students had a butterfly kit, they would have a chance to witness the miracle of metamorphosis, to see lowly caterpillars change into beautiful butterflies. We have three preschool classrooms and I would like to get a butterfly kit for my classroom, and also for our other two classrooms. I spoke with the other two teachers and they are on board with the project. Hands-on, science experiences are the most exciting way to learn. This is something that the children will always remember (hopefully!). I was able to find painted lady butterfly kits in the Carolina Biological Supply Catalog and would like to purchase three of them. Thank you for your consideration. P.S. Our project needed to be at least $100 and was a little under. So, please add a pack of three preying mantis egg cases. I've found them outside in the past and brought them into the classroom. It was exciting for the class to see them hatch. They looked like a thousand tiny alien creatures. We talked about how helpful they are to farmers, so many parents took a few each home to let loose in their backyards. I hope we can do that again. Thank you.
