More than half of my students are learning English while learning everything else they need to learn at school. My students LOVE to read books, especially books by Mo Willems. They like hearing stories in English and in Spanish. Unfortunately many of my students are still learning to read. The students that cannot read at higher levels yet look at pictures in the books and try to retell the stories as they remember them.
