These materials would make a difference in my students learning because many of them do not have ample opportunity to be immersed in literature in their day to day life. In a Title 1 school, socioeconomic status can play a negative role in fluence and literacy. This text is relatable to my students. It is about an adolescent male finding himself in the world and navigating where he belongs. My students are also navigating through the events that the main character of this story goes through. This story will resonate with my students and will also enable their creativity and imagination. Having the physical copy of this text as a resource would be so beneficial for a literature unit. The students will be allowed to keep the copy after the unit, as the annotations and vocabulary will aid them in the future and they can add it to their library at home!
