Our classroom is not designed to hold 24 students, two teacher desks, 5 desktops, a carpet, and two rectangular guided reading tables. The kids and teachers are beyond squished. We are knocking things over ALL day. The stools I want to use to replace the chairs for my guided reading table. This way the students can sit comfortably. They also won't be squeezed into the table or fighting to pull out a chair to sit. I also have students with special needs and stools act as flexible seating for them. Our students never leave the area they live in unless it is for the field trip once a year. By using the magazine from Time for Kids, we can bring the whole world to their fingertips. These kids absorb all current events but it would be easier to bring it to them when it's grade level appropriate.
