My students are learning how to be problem solvers and masters of social skills. I am a school counselor who teaches social emotional lessons daily to students in grades K-4. They are lively and energetic. They are curious and bold. They are from mixed socioeconomic conditions and from varied family structures. More than 20% of them are being raised by a grandparent. Their success in life will be driven not by their academic knowledge but by their character traits. They are the future. Together we unpack common social skills and talk in detail about impulse control, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
