My project focuses on increasing literacy by providing novels like Alone and Shelter, to students who are reluctant readers so they can discover the joy of reading and develop an interest in reading for pleasure. The more students engage in reading, the better they will read. My students are interested in mystery books and fantasy books; however, our program does not have a library and funding is short. A block of class time is provided each day for "Book Club" where students can be introduced to books that interest them and inspire them to read more. I love seeing my students excited about reading!
