The fairy rope lights and the floor lights that I am requesting are to help make my classroom more trauma sensitive. The Aloha Chair and book case with a reading nook offer a calming corner for my students that need a place to “escape!” Some of the students are coming in with a lot on their shoulders and being able to offer them a place to unwind during class would help them, in the long run, do better in class! I believe that the switch from regular classroom lighting to a softer lighting will help to make the room more inviting to the students as well as a more comfortable atmosphere in which to learn!
