The Care Closet will provide a way for our student body to get the basic needs for daily living in a confidential and dignified way. This includes things like basic hygiene items (deodorant, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste), wardrobe standards (socks, leggings, gloves, winter hats), school supplies (backpacks, binders), and some basic household supplies (blankets, paper goods, laundry soap). Students who do not have their basic needs met, have difficulty focusing on learning. After surveying our student body, we learned that there exists a very real and unmet need in our school community to provide a way to get our kids the stuff they need so that they can succeed. Our Care Closet will be an anonymous way of getting these needs met within our school. There are plans to create a QR code that can be used to place an "order" with a student ID # for anonymity. Only the adult sponsors (myself and the amazing Care team) of the Care Closet will have direct access to these students.
