I’d like to increase students’ opportunities to immerse themselves in a cross-curriculum, problem-solving experience that encourages creativity, teamwork and higher-order thinking by using Carbotics Kit. These kits are designed to bring together the 4 Cs (critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication) with a series of locked puzzles, mazes, and games that students have to solve. This grant would allow our 5th grade students to experience robotics in our classroom. My classroom has 26 students that would break into small groups to cooperatively work to build and program the robots. There are 6 other teachers with similar-sized classes that these robots can rotate through. These inventive robot cars will encourage students to explore, research concepts, develop collaborative design plans and create projects of their own initiative.
