We are requesting a digital camera to add visuals to our projects and provide a means to record videos for instructional support and project promotion. This camera will allow my students to document our process, provide digital examples of infested trees, and help us create a video of our first ever attempt at writing a mobile app. We intend to carry out this project using MIT's Mobile App Inventor. This camera will help us to record visual examples of ash trees infected with the emerald ash borer for visual reference in the app. This equipment will also provide my students with the ability to use up to date digital equipment to photograph and record any project within the classroom. Enabling students to photograph and video projects in class will allow them to highlight the positive impact they are having in school and the challenges and successes associated with developing an app for the first time. Students will learn how they can use engineering and design to better the community they live in, and get the opportunity to highlight the fun and unique things they are doing in class. This equipment will serve to replace older equipment that is well past its prime and allow students to use current technologies to create professional quality photographs and videos.
