Our children in this modern era have made the choice to entertain themselves, to learn, and to socialize through technology. In this new world, we as teachers, must be prepared to teach our students in the manner in which they learn best. Students have shown immense growth in engagement and knowledge from the use of educational technology. By utilizing virtual reality in my classroom, I will be able to lead my students through the world of early America as I provide valuable information about key sites, events, and the significant impact it has on our lives today. The final part of my project will ask students to create their own tours using the very same technology. Students will be challenged to complete research on specific historic events in the mid 19th century and then lead their peers on tours of the sites which they uncovered.
