My students tell me they prefer indoor recess because there isn’t much to do during outside recess. Can you imagine? We could use some playground equipment to help get our wiggles out! Some jump ropes and balls would help us build outdoor skills like balance and hand-eye coordination. Students require 150 minutes of physical education per week. Without equipment, the only option for students is to run or play on the swing set. What’s recess without a game of kickball or a hula hoop contest? Children (some more than others) need to expend energy so they can focus while reading.
