Art is a fundamental component to a well-rounded education. The arts connect people in so many different ways such as fostering creativity, bringing us joy, helping express ourselves, and helping us understand other cultures. This project will teach my students about the life of artist Louise Nevelson and the adversity she faced while growing up. We will be exploring sculpture and creating artwork out of everyday objects that my students could find in their homes and their nearby surroundings. This project will also allow my students to use new art materials for the first time. The hot glue guns and glue will allow us to make our sculpture with a wide variety of materials that would not be suitable for regular glue. The spray paint will be used to finish and cover the entire sculptural surface. I know my students will be very excited to have an opportunity to create with these new materials.
